Accommodation in Machu Picchu

The town of Aguas Calientes is a place conditioned for tourism. It has hotels of different qualities and prices. From an area prepared for camping at a cost of 15 soles ($ 5 per night) to the only hotel located next to the Inca Citadel from where you can appreciate the Wonder of the World. Here are some tips to take into account to get the hotel liked by the visitor.

  • Book your hotel online and with the necessary anticipation. In this way you will ensure the accommodation in the place of your preference.
  • If you plan to get to know Machu Picchu during the high season of tourism (from April to October), reservations must be made in advance. The demand increases during those months.

Buses to Hydroelectric

There is another way to get to Machu Picchu without traveling by train or through the Inca Trail. It is the alternative route through the hydroelectric power station. You get there with a bus trip of approximately 5 hours from the city of Cusco. From that point, you will reach Aguas Calientes on a 30-minute train ride or through a 2-hour walk. • If you chose to do it on your own, there is no bus that takes you directly to the hydroelectric power station. The tourist must take up to 3 cars to get there (Cusco-Santa María, Santa María-Santa Teresa, and Santa Teresa-Hydroelectric Plant).
